‘Fingers’
videosculpture 1993
The video-sculpture 'Fingers'
consists of a glass display case, which is mounted on the wall at
eye level, in a steel framework. (45 X 35 X 35 cm) Inside the case is a metal
'U' shape with two black & white monitors mounted on the ends
of its legs. On each of these small monitors we see the fingertips
of the right and the left hand, respectively. The fingertips of
both hands move cautiously. The left monitor
shows a mirrored image of the right. Seen
from some distance one merely sees moving
spots of light. Approaching the work, the fingertips are recognised There is no sound.
