‘Chain’    2012

Commissioned by the art department of the AMC Amsterdam (Academic Medical Centre)

Five ‘naked’ TV-tubes are placed into a large glass showcase.  The plastic shell of the original TV’s is removed and the ‘intestines’ are placed into the protected area  of the vitrine cabinet. Thus the viewer gets a direct view of an almost organic collection of coloured wires and electronic components that, in an incomprehensible and magic way, produces images on the belonging television-tubes.
These tubes show moving images of hands that grab each other and that let go in a endless repetition. Hands offering comfort and consolation or hands that show vulnerability,  uncertainty or fear.
Vibrating, shaky hands ore stable self-confidant hands, interacting and influencing each other in a stylized manner.
