Mai 2014, after a residential stay of several months in China, Peter Bogers will present his work at a solo show in Gallery C-space , Beijing.

Title of the show:
'scanning Caochangdi-Caochangdi scanning'
Opening: Mai 10, 2014, 16.00hr
Red No.1 - C1 & C2, Cao Changdi Chaoyang District
Beijing 100015, China
TEL: +86 10 51273248

Residing at the C-space gallery in Beijing, the Dutch media-artist Peter Bogers has made daily video-recordings at just one local crossroad in Chaochangdi, Beijing. The language-barrier in mind, Bogers has used his camera as a tool to communicate. He simply put it on a tripod and stood next to it for hours, using this situation to get in contact with people passing by. The resulting recordings form the basis for a comprehensive audiovisual installation presented in the C-Space gallery, situated in the heart of Caochangdi.
All footage has been edited into a breathing rhythm of repeatedly playing forward and backward in time. It offers the viewer the possibility to closely study gradually developing daily situations and inevitably confronts him with the idea that it is the element of time that bounds all movement and human action together. Time as a huge invisible network of strings, inextricably connecting all matter, all physical objects and all human bodies.
In 'scanning Caochangdi-Caochangdi scanning' all is tied to an overarching rigid time structure, claustrophobic because of its inevitability, but simultaneously opening up an intense world off appealing small events and their mysterious interdependencies.

Ephemeral Sustainability 1 – Sound Art

Residing at the ØSTRE in Bergen Norway, Peter Bogers has recently produced a sound installation commisioned by "RESONANCE"

Within the framework of Riga European capital of culture 2014 'Untamed Choire' and 'Studium Chorale 01' will be shown in Riga, Latvia, Mai 2014

For 'Studium Chorale 01' Bogers co-operated with composer Hans Leenders and the profesional Limburg choir 'Studium Chorale'.
The spatial composition 'Studium Chorale 01' is an adaptation of Leenders' choral work 'Bretonse namiddag' (Breton afternoon). The work has been re-recorded in a special way: twelve separate recordings have been made of each of the twelve choir members. These recording are performed by the 20 loudspeakers placed into a circle. What the listener will hear - the full piece, or rather the individual contributions of some of the singers- will depend on his or her position with respect to the circle of speakers.
The work creates a unusual listening experience and encourages the listener to move around and explore the group process that lies at the basis of every choir piece.

The RESONANCE project is an European collaboration of a number of co-organisers and associated partners with a focus on the production,
the presentation, the documentation and exchange of experience in the field of contemporary sound art.
Through a series of residencies, RESONANCE provides sound artists with opportunities to produce and show new work in an European context.
RESONANCE is coordinated by Stichting Intro/In Situ in Maastricht (the Netherlands). Current co-organizers are the Festival van Vlaanderen in
Kortrijk (Belgium), the Singuhr Hörgalerie in Berlin (Germany), Lydgalleriet (Bergen, NO) and Le Bon Accueil in Rennes (France).
Associated Partners are Association Bazar (Lille, FR), Audio Art Festival (Krakow, PO) & Skanu Mezs (Riga, LV)

The premiere of 'Untamed Choir' has been at "Oestre, hus for lydkunst og elektronisk musikk" in Bergen, Norway, from 25-07-2013 to 11-08-2013.
